We are in need of dry dog food at this time. Please consider donating dog food as part of your next donation to Safe Harbor Human Society. Thank you for all your help!!!
We want to say THANK YOU to everyone who came out to our Spayghetti Dinner Sunday January 29th!
We appreciate your support more than words can express!!!! A record breaking event means we can spay/neuter LOTS of animals in the months to come!!! Thanks to all of our amazing volunteers for their hard work at the event, with out them it wouldn't have been possible!
Please call your non-emergency police department for after-hours emergencies. (City of Kenosha 262-656-1234)
Our cats and kittens are in need of litter for their litter boxes - can you help!? The least expensive non-clumping kind is the best, we usually pick up the cheap stuff from Woodmans and its perfect! They appreciate any donations you can make! THANK YOU!
A BIG thank you to Nicole & Victoria for raising money for Safe Harbor!!
We have a very generous crafter who makes the wonderful pet blankets that we sell in our lobby. She is running out of yarn! We are hoping to get donations of leftover/spare knitting and crochet type yarn and batting/pillow stuffing so she can keep making our favorite blankets! THANKS!!!
Minnie is ready for an adventure with you!
Minnie wandered into Safe Harbor as a stray. Her haircoat was very thin and her skin was red and painful. She was a dog whose condition was neglected for some time. Although itchy and in pain, Minnie's spirit has not been broken. She is a happy, joyful girl who desperately wants human attention and affection.
Thankfully, a volunteer/foster family stepped in to provide a safe, warm home for Minnie to recuperate. After two months, Minnie's skin has begun to heal and she's showing us what a beautiful girl she is!
She thrived while in her foster home and learned all of the "basic" things that great dogs should know; sit, stay, down and come. She also learned fun tricks such as shake, speak and roll over! She is very smart and catches on quickly. We also hear she is a pretty impressive "fetcher", and will drop the ball nicely at your feet, ready for another throw!
Minnie is currently back at the shelter, ready for her fur*ever family! She would do best in a home where she is the only dog; she prefers to have her people and her toys all to herself. Can you really blame her? Minnie does not mind sharing a home with cats, as she does really well with them and makes fast friends.
Minnie is looking for a family that is comfortable with keeping her on a strict diet so she doesn't have to suffer with skin allergies again. We've had her on Purina H/A while at the shelter and she has tolerated it well. Such a small thing for such a wonderful dog!
Please help to ensure that Minnie gets the happy ending she so desperately deserves by coming to meet her today!
Click the Picture above to begin the online adoption process. You will be taken to Petango.com where you will need to create an account before beginning the application process. Applications may take up to 72 hours to process.
Please note: Not all of our available animals are listed online. We post adoptable animals as often as possible. The best way to see our current animals is to stop by the shelter during our open hours and meet the furkids!
